Look for the cause of the defect
A damaged individual block and a sunken wheel track are not the same repair problem. A cracked unit may be replaceable, while wider settlement can involve the bedding or supporting layers. Photograph the affected area and note whether it has changed after rainfall or vehicle use.
Match the repair to the construction
Block paving can allow local lifting and reinstatement, but the installer should explain whether the underlying support or drainage needs correction. Simply adding material beneath a few blocks may not address the reason they moved. On a Horsham driveway, ask whether matching units are available and how a repair will meet the surrounding pattern and edge restraints. Older and new blocks can differ in colour because of weathering, so a technically sound repair may still be visible. Agree the appearance and the extent of the work beforehand.
Your project checklist
- Record whether the defect is local damage or wider settlement.
- Ask how bedding and support will be checked.
- Discuss colour matching and the repair boundary.
Can I just replace the sunken blocks?
Replacing units alone may not help if the support beneath them is the cause. Get the underlying issue assessed first.
