Driveways for heavier vehicles in Basingstoke: specify the load
Tell your installer about vans, regular deliveries and vehicle movement before choosing a driveway construction.

Domestic does not describe every vehicle load
A driveway used by a small car is not the same brief as one used by a loaded van or regular larger deliveries. Tell the surveyor what will park on the surface, how often vehicles turn and whether any wheel tracks or edges already show movement.
Construction should follow the intended use
Ask how the supporting layers, surface and edge restraints will be specified for the actual use. Do not assume a particular material alone guarantees suitability for every vehicle. In Basingstoke, turning space and entrance transitions also matter, particularly where a vehicle must manoeuvre repeatedly. Discuss temporary loading during building work and the use of jacks or stands with the installer. A product-appropriate design and clear aftercare guidance are more useful than an unqualified promise that a driveway is “heavy duty”.
Your project checklist
- List the vehicles and regular delivery requirements.
- Show existing movement in wheel tracks or edges.
- Ask about turning, point loads and construction suitability.
Will tarmac automatically suit any heavy vehicle?
No. The complete construction and expected loads need to be specified for the site.
